Consultations & Coaching

A single conversation with the right person,
at the right moment, can be pivotal
to a project’s success.

I frequently seek out professionals for coaching or consultations, to help with strategy, copywriting, design critique, or learning a new programming language. My projects and clarity of purpose are stronger for it.

I love being that person for others—offering guidance to designers and business leaders alike. Informed by a rare breadth of creative, teaching, and entrepreneurial experience, we can focus on everything from your project’s vision to the execution of practical details. Here are some common examples:

  • Strategic Advice: Such as determining what (not) to focus on, presenting your creative work, presenting complex concepts, navigating a freelancing career, and identifying how to approach potential projects.

  • Concept Brainstorming & Sketching: Such as defining a potential product or its features, sketching visual concepts for a logo or website, or finding unexpected ways to present your message across formats.

  • Project Feasibility & Scope Assessment: You have an idea—but how do you know if it’s possible? What would it take to turn it into a reality? Are there clever, unconventional ways to execute your vision?

  • Technical Execution: Such as how to achieve something in a design software, workflow planning and tool selection, anything about fonts or SVG, building an iOS/Mac app, or how to implement various graphics and animations on a responsive website.

  • Design Feedback & Guidance: Such as crafting compelling presentations, typography selection and usage, or refining an existing design—be it app mockups, responsive websites, graphic design layouts, typefaces, lettering, or icons.

  • Content/Design/Code Contribution: Such as producing new graphics, coding website improvements, refining a layout’s typography and colors, or mocking-up a concept to help you sell or validate it.

Coaching

If you’re ready to “do the work” but you need a guide, recurring consultations (often with a consistent topic and cadence) are one of the best ways to accelerate your growth—and your project’s timeframe.

Start by booking a single consultation. Then we can determine if/how ongoing coaching makes sense for your goals.

Details

$250 per consultation

I prefer to focus on your problem rather than the clock, so I don’t impose a strict time limit. Addressing your needs might take 40 minutes, or it might take 2 hours. Beyond a couple hours suggests the topic requires multiple sessions or a different type of engagement, which we can discuss as needed.

Expectations

  • Consultations do not include additional prep or follow-up work. You’re welcome to send relevant assets beforehand, and we’ll review them together during the consultation. Follow ups will be limited to sending resources or assets we reviewed during the consultation.

  • Confidentiality: Unless something has been published publicly, I will treat it as strictly confidential. Non-disclosure agreements are not appropriate for such a small engagement.

  • Ownership: You own any assets I create for you during the consultation (upon receipt of full payment for the consultation).
